Tips for the Home Spa
Start clean. It's hard to feel like a spa goddess in a bathroom that is less than sparkling. Clear the clutter and replace with simple items. Add a bouquet of flowers to bring nature inside. Surround yourself with things you love - candles, fluffy towels, a treasured photo.
- Turn off the television and telephone.
- Lower the lights and avoid harsh overhead lighting while you're in the tub.
- Light a candle in a soothing aromatherapy scent such as lavender, citrus, vanilla, sandalwood, or cedar.
- Have a collection of spa accessories within reach - a long-handled bath brush, loofah, stacks of soft, fluffy towels, a cozy robe, fuzzy slippers, a terry- bath pillow to rest your head.
- Take slow, deep breaths. Let go have the have-to's and should-do's. Don't rush; enjoy your pampering moments.
- Use soothing music to set the tone to stimulate serenity and transport yourself. Soft orchestral music, Native American flute, spiritual chants and nature sounds like ocean waves or forest rains are popular choices.
- Enjoy a cup of herbal tea such as chamomile, mint, or green tea.
